NAHL Announces Bauer Hockey Stars of the Week

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending April 7, 2024.  The Divisional Stars of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2023-24 season that honors the top performing players in each of the four NAHL divisions. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the Divisional Players of the Week award. 

Central Division Star of the Week: Michael Coleman, Forward, St. Cloud Norsemen

Norsemen forward Michael Coleman added big numbers over the two games he appeared in over the weekend. The Grand Forks, ND native posted a goal in St. Cloud’s 6-1 win on Friday night, then followed that performance up with a five point game, adding four goals and an assist in a 10-4 win. Coleman has totalled 48 points on the season with 24 goals and 24 assists in 57 games played. ““It’s nice to see Michael get rewarded for his efforts,” Assistant Head Coach John Mitchell said. “His passion and work ethic are palpable. He has found good chemistry with linemates, Tyler and Peyton, who do a good job at getting him the puck in open space. It’s fun to watch “

2nd Star: Tyler Dysart, F, St. Cloud Norsemen

East Division Star of the Week: Wyatt Stefan, Forward, Danbury Hat Tricks

Danbury forward Wyatt Stefan totalled six points over three games to earn the East Division Star of the Week award. The Laguna Beach, CA native started off the week on Tuesday with a three point game adding two goals. Friday started a two game series for the Hat Tricks against the Rebels. Friday night, Stefan added an assist, then followed up on Saturday adding a go ahead assist, then the game winning goal in the Hat Tricks 3-2 win. Stefan leads Danbury in scoring this season with 44 points over 53 games played. “Wyatt has done a lot of little things away from the puck that helped him in his offensive production,’ Head Coach Patrik Stefan said.

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Arvega Hovsepyan, Forward, Anchorage Wolverines 

Arvega Hovsepyan  was a key factor in the Wolverines weekend sweep on home ice against the Janesville Jets. The Los Angeles, CA native posted a goal in Friday nights 5-3 win. In Saturday night’s contest, Hovsepyan scored a goal in the second and third period that would put the Wolverines over the Jets by a score of 5-1. Arvega has played in 19 games this season and has totalled 25 points with 11 goals and 14 assists. “Arvega joined our team right at roster freeze and he’s been nothing short of amazing for us," Head Coach Nick Walters said. "He plays a 200 foot game but he specializes in the offensive zone and the power play. We rely on him night to night and he showed up big time for us this weekend with three goals. To have a guy that you can lean on to create offense and chances gives you an opportunity to win every night.”

South Division Star of the Week: Michael Schermerhorn, Forward, New Mexico Ice Wolves

Ice Wolves forward Michael Schermerhorn lit up the scoresheet for New Mexico over the weekend. The Traverse City, MI native added two goals in the Ice Wolves 4-3 overtime loss. Schermerhorn netted both the first and third goals in that contest. In the following matchup, Schermerhorn added two more goals to his resume. Michael has played in 58 games this season in an Ice Wolves sweater where he has combined for 51 points. “Michael had a great last weekend of the season before the playoffs start,” Head Coach Phil Fox said. “Michael has been a pillar of consistency all year for us. He's been a great leader and captain and is showing that hard work pays off. It's great to see the success he's having this year and he's earned every bit of it"
