Maine forward Tardif makes NCAA DI Commitment

The Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Charles Tardif has committed to playing NCAA Division I hockey for Sacred Heart University.

Tardif, 21, is playing his 4th season of junior hockey and 2nd season in the NAHL. The Québec native began his NAHL career in the 2020-21 campaign, appearing in a Wilderness sweater for one game before playing 32 games for the Odessa Jackalopes. In those games, Tardif tallied 2 goals and 8 assists. The following two seasons Charles spent in the BCHL and joined the Nordiques this year for his age-out season where he was named captain. 

“Extremely proud and honoured to announce my commitment to play D1 hockey at Sacred Heart University. Thank you to my parents, teammates, coaches and everyone who has helped me throughout this journey,” said Tardif.

Tardif has been an integral part of Maine’s success in the East this year, placed second across the entire NAHL in goal scoring with 34 putaways in 55 games. His 59 points also place him highest on Maine’s roster and 10th in points scoring in the league, the first time for a Nordique since Noah Kane led the league in scoring (64 pts) in the 2019-2020 season. 

Tardif was selected to and participated in the 2024 Top Prospects Tournament in February at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. There, he represented Team East alongside teammates JP Steele, Tomek Haula, and Aiden Dixon.

He is the 11th Nordique to commit to playing NCAA Division I Hockey. In the near future, he will join six other current NAHLers to play at Sacred Heart.
