The Chippewa Steel of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that rookie forward Cam Springer has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Bowling Green State University in the CCHA.

“I am excited to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey and further my education at Bowling Green State University! I would like to give a huge thanks to my family, coaches, teammates, and everyone else who has helped me along the way,” said Springer.

Springer, 17, is in his rookie season playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the Steel. The Dexter, Michigan native is making a strong impact on the offensive end, tallying an equal 5 goals and 5 assists through 15 games played so far this season. Springer joined the team in November and made his debut for Chippewa on the 24th. His first career NAHL point came the following weekend in a matchup against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, recording a goal and two points in a 2-1 win.

Prior to playing in the NAHL, Springer spent three seasons developing with the Compuware AAA program.

Springer will be joining current NAHL players Max Martin (Wisconsin), Adam Schankula (Maryland), and Justin Kerr (Lone Star) at Bowling Green in the near future. He is the seventh player on the 2023-24 Steel roster committed to playing NCAA Division 1 Hockey.
