December 22, 2023

The New Jersey Titans of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Nikita Meshcheryakov has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Princeton University in the ECAC.

The 18-year-old, 6’2/187 lbs. native of Moskva, Russia, has recorded 11 goals and 9 assists for 20 points in 23 games played so far this season, quickly taking a share of the team lead in goals. He becomes the 11th Titan committed to an NCAA Division I team on the roster this year.

“We are extremely proud of Nikita and his family for making their commitment to Princeton. What a great opportunity for Nikita to advance in the hockey and academic portions of his career,” said Titans’ General Manager and Head Coach Craig Doremus. “Nikita has come to New Jersey and worked extremely hard to improve his game and has quickly become a big part of our team. He is an extremely talented, mature young man who has come to the rink every day to work hard and become an even better hockey player. We are extremely happy for him and his family on earning this tremendous opportunity and we look forward to him continuing to be a big part of our journey as we pursue the Robertson Cup Playoffs.”

Princeton University is one of the most prestigious collegiate institutions in the world, renowned for its scholarship, professors, and alumni. Playing in ECAC Hockey, Princeton captured the Whitelaw Cup in 2018 to secure their third conference championship.  By winning, they also earned conference’s automatic berth in the NCAA tournament, making their fourth appearance. The Tigers are 8-14-2-1 in the current season.

“I’m very happy to continue my hockey career and further my education at Princeton University. I am thankful for my team, my coaches, and of course my family who have done so much. I wouldn’t be have able to achieve this without them. I’m excited to be a Tiger!” said Meshcheryakov.
