Nordiques, Mudbugs pick up wins on Thursday

Shreveport forward Lucas Deeb had two goals in a 5-1 road win on Thursday.

New Hampshire 2 @ Maine 5 – On the strength of four goals in the 1st period, the Maine Nordiques won their fourth straight game and moved into sole possession of 2nd place in the East Division thanks to a 5-2 home win over the Mountain Kings. The Nordiques were on fire to start the game, scoring four goals in the opening period with tallies from Kellen Murphy, Ryan Panico, Jake Bernadet, and Cole Hipkin. The Mountain Kings tried to comeback with goals from Jack Costanzo and Matthew Hale, but a goal late in the 3rd period from Maine defenseman Nicholas Bernardo secured the 5-2 win. Maine goalie Carter Richardson made 17 saves in the win.

Shreveport 5 @ Amarillo 1 – It was all Mudbugs in a Thursday matinee game in Amarillo as Lucas Deeb scored twice and Hank Reed had three assists in the win. The Mudbugs jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals from Logan Heroux, Wil Murphy, and Deeb. Amarillo would make it 3-1 at the end of the 2nd period on a goal from Connor McNaughton. In the 3rd period, the Mudbugs would put the game out of reach with another goal from Deeb and one from Alex Park. Shreveport goalie Carson Dorfman made 22 saves in the win, while Connor McDonough and Luca Ganz combined for 36 saves in the loss.
