Austin forward Cook makes NCAA DI commitment

The Austin Bruins, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to share that forward and NAPHL alum Dylan Cook has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in Hockey East.

"I am very honored and proud to announce my commitment to further my education and play division 1 hockey at the University of Massachusetts Lowell," said Cook. "I would like to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity in my life, as well as my family, coaches, teammates, and all who have supported and helped me reach this point in my career. Extremely pumped for the next chapter, and I cannot wait to get started!"

The 6’0/180 lbs. native of Princeton, Minnesota will be entering his second season in the North American Hockey League during the 2023-24 Season.

During his rookie campaign in Austin during the 2022-23 season, Cook, 20, appeared in 59 regular season games and recorded 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists). He also added nine points in 10 Robertson Cup Playoff games, helping the Bruins the Central Division crown and leading the team all the way to the Robertson Cup title game.

Prior to playing in the NAHL, Cook played in the NAPHL for the NorthStar Christian Academy 18U team for two seasons. He playd in the 2021-22 NAPHL 18U All-Star Game and helped NorthStar to back-to-back Dixon Cup Championships. In 36 career NAPHL games over the course of two seasons, Cook recorded 54 points. 

"We are excited for Dylan," stated Head Coach Steve Howard. "He had a great rookie season and we are looking forward to having him back in Austin this year. The River Hawks are getting a great person on and off the ice."

The University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell and UML) is a public research university in Lowell, Massachusetts. The River Hawks are members of Hockey East. They play their games out of the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell. Cook will be joining the River Hawks for the 2024-25 season.
