Johnstown forward Barbour makes NCAA commitment

July 31, 2023

The Johnstown Tomahawks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward James Barbour has committed to play NCAA Division III college hockey at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.

“We’d like to congratulate James on his NCAA commitment to Trinity,” said Johnstown Tomahawks Head Coach Mike Letizia. “He was an offensive weapon for us last season in Johnstown, and he should be able to add a lot of skill and playmaking ability to their lineup next season. We wish him nothing but the best as he begins his college hockey and academic career.”

The 6’0/165 lbs. native of Lake Forest, IL, James demonstrated exceptional prowess on the ice, showcasing his dedication and skillset. During his time with the Tomahawks during the 2022-23 season, Barbour appeared in 55 games and tallied an impressive record of 10 goals, 23 assists, and 33 points.

“I want to thank Coach Mike and Dunks for a great year. They helped me grow both on and off the ice,” stated Barbour. “And also to the community of Johnstown, for your endless support this season.”

Trinity College fans can anticipate Barbours’ impactful contributions to the college hockey landscape. The Tomahawks organization would like to wish James the very best as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his hockey journey.
