Springfield defenseman Edwards makes NCAA commitment

June 23, 2023

The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that Top Prospects defensemen Ben Edwards has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for St. Norbert College.

Edwards, a 6’4/194 lbs. native of Boise, ID, arrived in Springfield in September after being acquired from the Anchorage Wolverines. In 51 games with the Jr. Blues during the 2022-23 season, he tallied 6 assists and spent 37 minutes in the penalty box.

He was also selected to and played in the 2023 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Midwest Division team.

“Ben was a very solid defender for us this season,” said Head Coach Todd Pococke. “He has the qualities every team is looking for in an athlete and a person.”

Last season, Ben appeared in 31 games for the Anchorage Wolverines before suffering a season ending injury. He played his youth hockey for the Nashville Jr. Predators and was teammates with current Jr. Blues players Landry Schmuck, Brayden Cook and Carson Dorfman.

Ben Joins Hayden Riva (Lake Forest), Carter Cloutier (Lawrence), Jake Peterson (Air Force), James Callahan (Air Force), Tyler Borgula (Quinnipiac), Cole Lonsdale (RIT), Nikita Nikora (Dartmouth), Adyn Merrick (Northern Michigan), and Hagen Moe (Bowling Green) to commit to an NCAA program.
