El Paso forward Horn makes NCAA DI commitment
The El Paso Rhinos of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that Top Prospects forward Jonathan Horn has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Air Force Academy in Atlantic Hockey.
In 53 games for the Rhinos this season, Horn, 20, has posted 17 goals and 23 assists for a total of 40 points. He is currently the Rhinos’ leader in goals, assists, and points. The 5’11/175 lbs. native of Southbury, CT was also selected to play at the 2022 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament where he notched one assist.
For Horn, deciding on the Air Force Academy was based on fit. “The most important thing for me was trying to find the right fit. They checked all my boxes and I’m excited to be part of the Falcon family,” said Horn
Rhino Head Coach Anthony Bohn is happy to see Horn receive the opportunity to continue his hockey career with a great program. “Our organization is extremely proud and excited for Jonathan and his family on his commitment to Air Force,” Bohn said. “He is very dedicated to his craft every day and it’s nice to see him rewarded for it.”
Playing in the Atlantic Hockey Association, Air Force finished the 2021-22 season in sixth place league standings. The Falcons posted a record of 16 (W) – 17(L) – 3(T) and tallied 37 points, only four points shy of third place.
Horn is now one of three current Rhinos committed to play hockey in college. Jan Olenginski will play at St. Lawrence University and age-out Jacob Zacharewicz will lace up his skates at Brown University next season.
