Top Prospects Tournament: Day 1

The South Division bested the West Division, 3-2, in the third and final game on the first day of the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Topeka’s Ross Trousdale was named the Player of the Game after scoring the game-winning goal at the 18:45 mark of the third period to break a 2-2 tie.

Topeka’s Bryon Paulazzo and Springfield’s Brandon Bahnemann tallied the other South goals.

Kenai River’s Ryan Goodmanson and Alaska’s Kyle Pichler scored for the West Division.

In goal, Topeka’s Bryce Merriam made 27 saves for the South; Fairbanks’ Phil Cook stopped 33 shots for the West.

U.S. UNDER-18 TEAM 6, CENTRAL DIVISION 2:
The U.S. Under-18 Team defeated the Central Division, 6-2, today on the opening day of the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament.

Team USA’s Kyle Palmieri was named the Player of the Game after notching two goals and assisting on Chase Balisy’s game-winning marker.

Balisy (goal, assist), Ryan Bourque (goal, assist) and Drew Shore (two assists) each recorded two-points games for Team USA.

North Iowa’s Brandon Brodhag and Owatonna’s Tony McDonald scored for the Central Division.

In goal, Brandon Maxwell made 46 saves for the U.S. squad; Bismarck’s Matt Grogan stopped 43 shots for the Central.

UNDER-17 TEAM 4, NORTH DIVISION 2: The U.S. Under-17 Team doubled up the North Division, 4-2, in the opening game of the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament.

Team USA’s Jerry D’Amigo was named the Player of the Game after striking for two goals, including the game-winner, in the victory.

Jacob Fallon and AJ Treais (empty net) scored the other U.S. goals.

Marquette’s Garrett Ladd and Motor City’s Ryan Misiak scored for the North Division.

Between the pipes, Team USA’s Adam Murray made 35 saves; Mahoning Valley’s Jordan Tibbett stopped 28 shots for the North.
