Jets and Mercy Health System team up to fight cancer

October 12, 2012

The Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) will play two home games at the Janesville Ice Arena on Friday, October 19th and Saturday, October 20th vs. the Coulee Region Chill in support of cancer awareness.

The event, dubbed "Paint the Rink Pink presented by Mercy Health System," also is sponsored by Jets media partners Bliss Communications, the Janesville Gazette and WCLO.  After both games, the Jets will hold a live auction of the specialty pink jerseys the Jets players will be wearing with net proceeds being donated to the Mercy Foundation with funds earmarked for the Mercy Regional Cancer Center.

Both "Paint the Rink Pink" games start at 7 PM, with doors opening at 5:45 PM.  Fans wearing pink to these games will receive $2 off their ticket price.  Mercy Healthy System will provide pink thundersticks each night and have information tables set-up with cancer awareness literature.  Limited edition pink Jets t-shirts will also be for sale at the games.  Overflow parking is available at the Wisconsin National Guard parking lot just south of the Janesville Ice Arena.

In support of the Janesville Jets cancer awareness efforts, the Jets hockey players visited the Mercy Regional Cancer Center this past Wednesday (pictured right).

Also, the night before the "Paint the Rink Pink" games face-off, there will be a special "Skaters As Waiters" event on Thursday, October 18th from 4 - 8 PM at Texas Roadhouse (3201 Deerfield Drive, Janesville, 53546).  Janesville Jets players will split into two shifts from 4 - 6 PM and 6 - 8 PM and will serve as guest waiters along with the Texas Roadhouse staff.  Restaurant guests can provide an extra tip that will go to the Mercy Regional Cancer Center efforts.

In addition, Jets sponsor Texas Roadhouse will also generously donate a portion of sales that evening to the Mercy Foundation.  Mercy staff will also be present with cancer awareness literature.
