IceRays goaltender LaPrade commits to Minnesota
The Corpus Christi IceRays, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), have announced that goaltender Matt LaPrade will follow the footsteps of his father by attending the University of Minnesota in the 2012-13 season.
Dr. Robert LaPrade, Matt’s father, was the team physician and orthopedist for the Gophers hockey team when they captured a National Championship.
The 6-4, 195-pound goalie, first played high school hockey for Holy Family Catholic before moving to the Colorado Rampage of the Tier-I Elite League during the 2010-11 season.
LaPrade joined the IceRays midway through the 2011-12 season, largely playing a back-up role to IceRays goalie Anthony Stolarz, who is ranked #4 for goaltenders in the NHL Central Scouting Final rankings.
The Golden Gophers play in the WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association) and have captured five National Championships (1974, 1976, 1979, 2002, 2003).
