Wildcats Shumway commits to NCAA Division I RIT

November 30, 2011

The Wichita Falls Wildcats, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) have announced that defenseman and team captain Brad Shumway has committed to playing college hockey at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Shumway, 19, (6'2/190) is the first Wildcat to become a member of the Tigers. RIT plays out of the NCAA Division I Atlantic Hockey Association, where he will be playing against a number of former Wildcats, including Kyle Delaurell (Air Force), Brian Sheehan (Sacred Heart), Steven Hoshaw (American International), Brett Hartung, and Zach Ledford (both at Bentley).

The RIT Tigers are currently in second place in the AHA this season.  His commitment follows that of Dennis Kravchenko, who will play at Vermont next season.

This is Shumway's second season in the NAHL.  Last season, the Lafayette, Colorado native played for the Wenatchee Wild where he recorded 15 points in 52 regular season games.  So far this season with Wichita Falls, Shumway has 12 points in just 23 games played.
