Odessa forward Finn makes NCAA commitment

April 14, 2023

The Odessa Jackalopes, a proud member of the North American Hockey League, would like to congratulate forward Brendan Finn on his commitment to playing NCAA Division III hockey for Trine University. Finn is the fifth Jackalopes player to commit for the 2022-23 season.

Finn, 20, is in his second and final season of junior hockey. The Oxford, MI native started his NAHL career last season with Odessa. The 6’1”/175lb. left-handed forward played 35 games in his rookie season and tallied ten points (3 goals, 7 assists).

Finn is currently tenth on the team in points with 17 (9 goals, 8 assists) through 52 games. He is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals with three. He is also fifth on the team in shooting percentage at 12.7%.

Prior to joining the NAHL, Finn spent two years (2019-21) playing for Lake Orion High (USHS-MI) and tallied 40 games (31G, 30A). He was in the top two in scoring each season. In the 2020-21 season, he was named to the USHS-MI All-State Division 1 First Team.

Trine University is located in Angola, IN. The Thunder play in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). Their roster from this past season included 11 players from the NAHL. They were nationally ranked 15th in DIII this past season which is the first time in program history. The Thunder are led by Head Coach Alex Todd, who has been with the team since they started their first season in 2017-18. Finn will be playing with fellow Odessa Jackalope, Noah Marino, in the fall.

“Playing junior hockey has been a lot of hard work and dedication. I am thankful for the experience and thankful for my family and billet family for their support. I am looking forward to playing college hockey and working towards my academic goals,” said Finn.

Head Coach Scott Deur stated this regarding Finn’s commitment, “I am excited for Brendan and his commitment to Trine. Brendan is a hard worker on and off the ice and is going to have a very successful collegiate career. We look forward to seeing him excel in the future.”
