Chippewa forward Cleary makes NCAA commitment

February 23, 2023

The Chippewa Steel of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Logan Cleary has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Connecticut College.

Cleary, 21, is currently playing in his third and final season in the NAHL. The 6’1/195 native of Amherst, OH, has split the 2022-23 season between the Chippwa Steel and the Amarillo Wranglers.

Cleary began the season with the Wranglers and recorded four points in 18 games. In late November, he was traded to Chippewa where he has since recorded seven points in 18 games played.

“I am very proud to announce that I will be playing college hockey and continuing my academic pursuits at Connecticut College. Thank you to my family, coaches, and teammates who have helped and supported me along the way,” said Cleary.

During the 2021-22 season, he appeared in all 60 regular season games for Amarillo and recorded 23 points. He was also selected to and played in the 2022 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division team.

He made his NAHL debut with the Lone Star Brahmas during the 2020-21 season, appearing in 23 games. Overall, Cleary has played in 119 career NAHL regular season games and recorded 35 points during that span.
