Saturday Scores: Warriors roll to sweep and 11th straight win
Wisconsin Windigo forward Zachary Burfoot had four points in a weekend sweep of the Minnesota Wilderness.
Oklahoma 7 @ Corpus Christi 2 - Therien Thiesing had a goal and two helpers as the Oklahoma Warriors knocked off the Corpus Christi IceRays 7-2. Hunter Allen, Blaise Miller and Joey Delgreco all had a goal and an assist while Brendan Williams and William Ahlrik both found the back of the net for the Warriors. Wolfgang Govedaris and Dylan Contreras netted goals for the IceRays. Daniel Duris earned the win in goal as he made 24 saves. Lukas Malant and Patrik Jurcak combined to make 28 stops.
Wisconsin 4 @ Minnesota 3 (SO) - Luke Levandowski scored the only goal in the shootout as the Wisconsin Windigo picked up a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wilderness. Kevin Marx Noren, Joe Cesario and Charlie Erickson got the Wilderness out to a 3-0 lead halfway into the action. Axel Begley started the comeback with his fourth of the season and Daniel Dolzhenko brought the Windigo within one heading into the final period. Begley’s second tally of the night tied the game at three and forced overtime. After five extra minutes Gavin Moffatt stopped all three Minnesota shooters to secure the win. He made 31 saves in 65 minutes. Isak Posch took the loss as he made 23 saves.
Kenai River 2 @ Chippewa 6 – Logan Cleary scored twice to lead the Steel to a 5-2 win over the Brown Bears, which completed a weekend sweep. Chippewa jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Cleary, Shawn Ramsey, and Kazumo Sasaki. The Brown Bears made it 3-1 late in the 1st period on a goal from Hunter Newhouse. In the 2nd period, Sam Rice scored to make it 4-1. Kenai River made it 4-2 later in the 2nd period with a goal from Garett Drotts. In the 3rd period, the Steel pulled away with goals from Peyton Platter and another from Cleary to secure the 6-2 win. Carter Wishart made 23 saves in the win, while Nils Wallstrom made 26 saves in the loss.
El Paso 1 @ New Mexico 4 - Alfred Lindberg buried two goals and added an assist as the New Mexico Ice Wolves defeated the El Paso Rhinos 4-1. William Howard added a goal and an assist in the victory while Jeff Hutchinson also found the back of the net. Kolby Amici provided the lone goal for the Rhinos. Jackson Fuller picked up the win in goal in his first NAHL game as he made 16 saves. Nolan Suggs was on the losing end of this contest, he made 19 saves.
Danbury 3 @ New Jersey 4 – The Titans completed a weekend sweep of Danbury as four different players scored in a 4-3 win. The Titans scored three goals in the 1st period as Reece Brednich, Levente Keresztes, and Michael Young all scored, while Danbury had goals from Logan Nickerson and Wyatt Stefan. In the 2nd period, the Titans made it 4-2 on a goal from Marcus Sang. In the 3rd period, Danbury pulled to within 4-3 on a power play goal from Emerson Molas, but that’s as close as they would get. Marino Ramirez made 20 saves in the win, while Karlis Mezsargs made 43 saves in the loss.
Northeast 2 @ Johnstown 4 – Drake Albers scored twice to lead the Tomahawks to a 4-2 win and weekend sweep of the Generals. Johnstown opened up a 2-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Albers and Justin Rapp. The Generals pulled to within 2-1 with a 2nd period goal from Jacob Kaminski. Albers scored again in the 3rd period to make it 3-1. Late in the game, a goal from Andrew DellaDonna for the Generals made it 3-2, but an empty-net goal from Will Lawrence secured the 4-2 win. Alec Rajalin-Scharp made 29 saves in the win, while Toby Hopp made 24 saves in the loss.
Philadelphia 1 @ Maine 4 – Maine goalie Thomas Heaney made 32 saves to league his club to a 4-1 win and weekend sweep of the visiting Rebels. Maine jumped out to a 2-0 lead with 1st period goals from Henrik Hallberg and Brendan Gibbons. The Rebels cut the lead down to 2-1 with a goal late in the 2nd period from David Deputy. In the 3rd period, the Nordiques pulled away with goals from Oliver Genest and Filip Wiberg. Rebels goalie Jakub Krbecek made 32 saves in the loss.
Anchorage 2 @ Springfield 4 – Tyler Borgula scored two goals for the second straight night as the Jr. Blues beat the Wolverines, 4-2. Anchorage jumped out to a 2-1 lead after two periods thanks to a pair of goals from Jackson Reineke, while Hadley Hudak scored for Springfield. In the 3rd period, the Jr. Blues scored three times, which included two goals from Borgula and the game-winner from Carter Cloutier. Carson Dorfman made 17 saves in the win, while Shane Soderwall made 14 saves in the loss.
Bismarck 2 @ St. Cloud 1 (SO) – Bobcats goalie Hunter Garvey made 32 saves and stopped both Norsemen shooters in the shootout to lead his team to a 2-1 shootout win on Saturday. St. Cloud opened the scoring late in the 1st period thanks to a power play goal from Anthony Ruklic, which was his first career NAHL goal. Bismarck tied the game late in the 2nd period on a tally from Drew Holt. In the shootout, Evan Hunter and Blake Pietila both scored for the Bobcats to secure the extra point and win. Norsmen goalie Ethan Dahlmeir made 22 saves in the loss.
North Iowa 2 @ Austin 0 - Mitch Day was a perfect 32 for 32 as he helped his North Iowa Bulls blank the Austin Bruins 2-0. Blake Ulve’s power play goal broke the scoreless tie late into the second period of action. Jackson Bisson provided the insurance for the Bulls midway through the final frame. Ethan Robertson stopped 14 of the 16 shots he faced in the loss for Austin.
Minot 2 @ Aberdeen 1 - Lawton Zacher won the goaltending battle over Cole Moore as he made 35 saves to help Minot get by Aberdeen 2-1. Michael Casey scored very early into the action to put Aberdeen on the board first. They held that lead after the first but half way into the middle frame Jack O’Hanisain scored his fifth of the year to knot the game at one. Joe Blackley struck on the power play in the third period to give the Minotauros the lead and the eventual win. Moore ended the night with 34 stops for Aberdeen.
Shreveport 5 @ Odessa 4 (OT) - Nick Marino scored 1:58 into overtime to lift the Shreveport Mudbugs to a 5-4 win over the Odessa Jackalopes. Tanyon Bajzer got the Jacks out to a 2-0 lead with two tallies in the opening 20 minutes. The Mudbugs would respond with three goals in the three minutes in the middle frame but their lead was short lived thanks to Dayne Hoyord’s sixth of the season. Ryan Kelly and Ryan Burke traded goals in the third period which would force overtime and set up Marino’s game winner. Nikola Goich stopped 18 shots to earn the win in net. Gergely Orosz suffered the loss as he made 28 stops.
Amarillo 0 @ Lone Star 3 - Arthur Smith needed to make just 10 saves to earn his league leading fifth shutout of the year as Lone Star blanked Amarillo 3-0. Ryan Comishock and David Skuhrovec scored in the second period to put Lone Star up by a pair of goals. Charlie Masek added the insurance goal to help seal the victory. Luca Ganz took the loss in net for the Wranglers, he made 25 saves.
