NAHL announces Bauer Hockey Stars of the Week

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending January 29, 2023.  The Divisional Stars of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2022-23 season that honors the top performing players in each of the four NAHL divisions. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the Divisional Players of the Week award.

 

Central Division Star of the Week: Tyler Dysart, Forward, St. Cloud Norsemen

The St. Cloud Norsemen and forward Tyler Dysart, 18, extended their winning streak to five straight games thanks to a three-game weekend sweep of the North Iowa Bulls this past weekend. The 5’10/176 lbs. native of Sunnyvale, CA, was a factor in all three wins, recording five points (3 goals, 2 assists). On Friday, Dysart had a goal in a 4-3 home win. On Saturday, he picked up another goal and an assist in a 4-2 road win. On Sunday, he had the game-winning goal and an assist in a 2-1 win. For the season, Dysart has 17 points in 32 games played to date. “Tyler is a talented young kid who is starting to find his way. When he is skating and working, he is a very valuable player for us,” said Norsemen head coach Corey Millen.

East Division Star of the Week: Jakub Krbecek, Goaltender, Philadelphia Rebels

Philadelphia Rebels goalie Jakub Krbecek, 19, came up big in a weekend home-and-home sweep of the New Jersey Titans as the Rebels continued their push for the playoff spot. The 6’2/180 lbs. native of Prague, Czech, started and won both games, stopping 56 of 60 shots in the process. On Friday, he made 26 saves in a 3-2 home win over the Titans. On Saturday, he made 30 saves and then stopped seven of eight shooters in the shootout in a 3-2 win on the road. For the season, Krbecek in 15-11-1 in 28 games played with a 2.68 goals against average and .921 save percentage.  “I am very excited for Jakub. He had another solid great weekend against a strong competitor. He’s continued to get better and better as the season has gone on,” said Rebels head coach Justin Hale.

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Jimmy Doyle, Forward, Janesville Jets

Janesville Jets forward Jimmy Doyle, 20, had his most productive weekend of the 2022-23 season as the Jets picked up a weekend home sweep of the Chippewa Steel. The 6’2/190 lbs. native of Plainfield, IL, had six points (2 goals, 4 assists) and was a +3 in the two wins. On Friday, Doyle had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win. On Saturday, he had a goal and three assists in a 9-5 win. For the season, Doyle, who just committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Bentley University, leads the Jets in scoring with 34 points in 41 games played to date. “Jimmy has been a driver of our team since the beginning of the year. He is playing at a high level with great compete, and offensive production. Jimmy’s ability to create offensively and strong defensive play propelled the team forward in a great weekend,” said Jets head coach Joe Dibble.

South Division Star of the Week: Drew Sutton, Forward, Oklahoma Warriors

Oklahoma Warriors forward Drew Sutton, 19, helped his team cruise to a weekend home sweep of the Corpus Christi IceRays, which not only extended the Warriors winning streak to eight straight games, but also moved the team into sole possession of 1st place in the South Division. The 5’10/168 lbs. native of Hortonville, WI, put up six points in the two wins. On Friday, Sutton had an assist in a 9-1 win. On Saturday, he had two goals, including the game-winner, and three assists in an 8-3 win. For the season, Sutton is tied for the team scoring lead with 38 points in 35 games played. “Drew has been one of our most consistent 200-foot players all season. He can have an impact in the game regardless of if he is on the score sheet or not. His IQ and attention to detail makes him one of the most valuable players for us every night. Drew's approach in preparation will be a huge part in his success at the NCAA level,” said Warriors head coach Garrett Roth.
