NAHL Weekend Preview

December 16, 2022

The NAHL is back in action this weekend as teams will play their final regular season games before the Christmas break.

In total, 27 games are scheduled from Friday through Sunday.

It was another great week for NCAA commitments as seven more players made NCAA Division I commitments as the current season total is now up to 155 committed players.

Teams have this weekend and next weekend to try and pick up some more wins before the NAHL breaks for eight days from December 20-28.

In the Central Division this weekend, it is battle of 1st and 2nd place teams as the Austin Bruins face the Aberdeen Wings for a second straight weekend. In other games, North Iowa and St. Cloud are postponed for a second straight night and Bismarck and Minot are playing in a home-and-home series that saw Friday’s game postponed.

In the East, the 2nd place New Jersey Titans, who haven’t lost in regulation in their last 11 games are in Johnstown. The 1st place Maryland Black Bears are in Maine to face the Nordiques and Northeast is at Danbury with the Jr. Hat Tricks trying to snap a 14-game slide.

In the Midwest, Kenai River looks to continue their push for 1st place as they face Chippewa on Friday in the series finale after winning on Thursday, 5-3. The 1st place Minnesota Wilderness are in Springfield for a pair of games against the Jr. Blues. Anchorage is down from Alaska to take on the Wiscosin Windigo with both teams riding hot streaks. The final series has Fairbanks in Janesville to take on the Jets with the two clubs separated by one point.

In the South, Oklahoma will take to the road and look to slow down the red-hot Odessa Jackalopes, who have won five straight. 1st place hosts 3rd place as the Lone Star Brahmas will host the New Mexico Ice Wolves. Corpus Christi is in Shreveport and El Paso is in Amarillo on Saturday and the lone NAHL game on Sunday.
