El Paso and Janesville win on Sunday
El Paso 3 @ New Mexico 2 – In what was an amazing scene at an outdoor rink in Los Alamos, New Mexico, Rhinos goalie Nolan Suggs stole the show, as he made 44 saves to lead the Rhinos to a 3-2 upset of the Ice Wolves. The Rhinos came from behind with two goals in the 3rd period and went 3 for 3 on the power play. Ryan Johnson got the scoring started for New Mexico with a 1st period goal. El Paso tied the game at 1-1 late in the 2nd period thanks to a power play goal from Ryan Cutler. In the 3rd period, the Ice Wolves regained the lead at 2-1 as Sully Scholle scored his 13th goal of the season. However, the Rhinos struck back later in the 3rd period on a power play goal from Tristan Kimmen to tie the game at 2-2. The game-winner came with under two minutes left as a shot from the point was tipped home by Luke Morris for the 3-2 win. Ice Wolves goalie Carsen Stokes made 18 saves in the loss.
Minnesota 3 @ Janesville 7 – The Jets got a hat-trick from Joseph Kramer as they beat the Wilderness on Sunday, 7-3. The game was tied at 1-1 after one period as Jimmy Doyle scored for Janesville and Charlie Erickson scored for the Wilderness. In the 2nd period, the Jets took a 4-1 lead with two goals from Kramer and one from Connor Deturris. The Wilderness closed the gap with within 4-3 midway through the 3rd period with goals from Ren Morque and Joe Cesario, but the Jets put the game away with three goals in the final 3:13 as Max Wagener, Jacob Delaney and Kramer all found the back of the net. Dylan Johnson made 21 saves in the win, while Isak Posch made 26 saves in the loss.
