The Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Patrick Schmiedlin has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Lindenwood University.
Schmiedlin, 20, is currently in his third and final season of playing in the NAHL for the Nordiques. The 6’1/186 lbs. native of Culver, IN, is off to a good so far during the current 2022-23 season with five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in eight regular season games to date. Schmiedlin also was a standout in Maine’s 7-0 defeat of the NTDP-17 Team at the NAHL Showcase with a goal and two assists in the game.
“Proud to announce my commitment to play NCAA Division 1 hockey and further my education at Lindenwood University. I’m really excited about what the coaching staff is building there and I can’t wait to be a part of it!” said Schmiedlin.
Schmiedlin joined the Nordiques during the 2020-21 season after playing two seasons in the USHL. During that first season, he recorded 18 points in 30 games played. He also had three points in 10 playoff games as the Nordiques won the East Division Playoffs and earned a berth in the Robertson Cup.
During the 2021-22 season, Schmiedlin had 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 44 regular season games. Overall in 83 career NAHL regular season games, Schmiedlin has recorded 54 points.
“I’ve had the pleasure of watching Paddy’s game grow since he was in peewee hockey,” said Maine head coach Matt Pinchevsky. “Paddy has been a huge asset to our team these past three years, we value his work ethic, spirit, and leadership on and off the ice. We can’t wait to see what Paddy does at the next level!”
Prior to junior hockey, Schmiedlin played for Culver Military Prep.
