Maryland forward Kebreau makes NCAA DI commitment

October 10, 2022

Maryland forward Dimitry Kebreau played in the NAPHL prior to the NAHL.

The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward and NAPHL grad Dimitry Kebreau has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Alaska-Anchorage.

Kebreau, 19, is in his second full season playing junior hockey in the NAHL. The 5’11/190 lbs. native of Silver Spring, Maryland, is currently 2nd in team scoring so far during the 2022-23 season with 16 points (10 goals, 6 assists) in 12 games played to date. His 10 goals is currently tied for the NAHL lead.

“I’m extremely proud and honored to announce my commitment to play division 1 college hockey at University of Alaska Anchorage! Thank you to my friends, teammates, coaches, and most importantly my family for supporting me along the way,” said Kebreau on social media.

“Maryland is a state full of talented hockey players, but Dimitry stands out because his “will” and desire are always at the forefront of his game. He has always been extremely talented, but his elevation as one of our leaders and the growth in the details of his game has been monumental. To say we are proud of him is an understatement. Anchorage is trying to build something special, and guys like Dimitry Kebreau will help with this process. He’s a great player, an even better teammate, and is beloved by anyone that has been lucky enough to know him. Congrats to Dima, and his family. They have supported him every step of the way,” said Black Bears head coach Clint Mylymok.

Kebreau made his NAHL debut during the second half of the 2020-21 season when he was also playing for Team Maryland in the NAPHL. In nine total NAPHL games that season including playoffs, Kebreau had 13 points, which included nine goals.

During the 2021-22 season, Kebreau put up 18 points (7 goals, 11 assists) in 51 games with the Black Bears during his first full season in the NAHL.
