Rebels defenseman Miller makes NCAA commitment

The Philadelphia Rebels (formerly the Jamestown Rebels) of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman James Miller has committed to playing NCAA Division III Hockey for Augsburg University of the MIAC Conference .
Miller will join the Augsburg College men’s hockey program in the fall of 2022. Augsburg College, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, started their hockey program in the 1979-80 season and has since been a part of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). They have been under the leadership of head coach Greg May, starting in the 2021-22 season.
Miller, 20, arrived to the Rebels via a trade in December from the Chippewa Steel. The 5’10/180 lbs. native of Shorewood, Minnesota, played 25 games for the Steel before the trade, recording a goal and 12 assists in those games. Miller played the remaining 35 games of the regular season for the Rebels, recording 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists). He also had two assists in 9 2022 Robertson Cup Playoffs appearances.
Miller was also selected to and played in the 2022 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in February of 2022 where he appeared in two games for the East Division team.
Miller has played on an NAHL roster in both seasons of his junior hockey career. In total, the defenseman has played in 94 regular season games, scoring 33 points (8 goals, 25 assists) across that span. Prior to his junior hockey career, he played three years of high school hockey in his hometown for Minnetonka High, joining the Chippewa Steel after the completion of his high school season for a three game stint in the 2019-20 season.
