Wilderness forward Hall makes NCAA DI commitment
Wilderness forward Barrett Hall spent a portion of the 2019-20 season playing in the NAPHL.
The Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Barrett Hall has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for St. Cloud State University in the NCHC.
Hall, 18, finished the 2021-22 season as one of only four Wilderness players to finish with a point-per-game average or better. The 6’0/170 lbs. native of Apple Valley, MN, generated 5 goals and 15 assists for 20 points in 19 regular season games. He also skated in all 9 of the team’s NAHL playoff games, putting up 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points.
Hall’s time with the Wilderness was spent in two phases, as he played his final season of high school hockey with Gentry Academy in between. In 25 games with the Stars, Hall led all scorers with 55 points (25 goals/30 assists) in 25 games. His performance with Gentry also led to him being named one of ten finalists for Minnesota’s Mr. Hockey award, given annually to the state’s top senior high school hockey player.
“Super pumped to announce my commitment to St. Cloud State University to play division 1 hockey! Can’t thank my family, friends, and coaches enough for all the support,” stated Hall.
Hall is also an alum of the NAPHL, having played briefly for the Madison Capitols 18U team during the 2019-20 season. He played in five NAPHL games and recorded one goal.
“We are really excited for Barrett. What was most impressive to us was that Barrett played with us before his high school season and after the season at Gentry, he was able to step in and immediately be an impact player for us on day one. He is very skilled and tenacious, but it's his hockey IQ that separates him from a lot of players his age. St. Cloud State is getting an outstanding player, a really great young man and teammate,” said Wilderness head coach Dave Boitz.
Hall becomes the 9th member of the 21-22 Wilderness to commit to a division 1 institution, joining Cole Crusberg-Roseen (UMass), Bobby Metz (Colgate), Max Neill (Lindenwood), Aaron Pionk (Minnesota State), Nico Rexine (Western Michigan), Max Ruoho (Niagara), Gunnar Thoreson (St. Lawrence) and Ethan Wolthers (Western Michigan).
