Corpus Christi forward Butler makes NCAA DI commitment

The Corpus Christi IceRays of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Nathan Butler has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Northern Michigan University in the CCHA.
Butler, 20, just completed his third season of playing junior hockey in the NAHL. The 5’10/165 lbs. native of Wylie, TX, was the leading scorer for the IceRays during the 2021-22 season, putting up 39 points (19 goals, 20 assists) in 58 regular season games.
He was also selected to and played in the 2022 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, where he had three points in two games while playing for the South Division team.
“I am proud to announce my commitment to play Division 1 college hockey for Northern Michigan. Thank you to all my friends and family who helped me along the way,” said Butler.
Prior to playing for the IceRays this past season, Butler spent two seasons in the NAHL with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. In 68 games with Fairbanks from 2019-21, he recorded 19 points.
Prior to playing junior hockey in the NAHL, Butler played youth hockey for the Dallas Stars Elite AAA program.
