Wolverines open playoffs with 2-1 win in Springfield on Thursday

Raythan Robbins made 34 saves in a 2-1 win in Game 1 on Thursday night.

Midwest Division Semi Finals, Game 1: Anchorage 2 @ Springfield 1 (Anchorage leads series, 1-0) – Wolverines goalie Raythan Robbins made 34 saves to lead his team to a 2-1 win in Game 1 of the Midwest Division Semi-Finals as the Robertson Cup Playoffs officially got underway on Thursday night in Springfield. The Jr. Blues were first on the board as late in the 1st period Connor Smith connected on a power play goal with an assist to Cole Dubicki. The Wolverines responded back early in the 2nd period as Talon Sigurdson struck for his first goal of the playoffs after 38 goals in the regular season with assists to Colton Friesen and Hunter Bischoff. Late in the 3rd period, some nice cycling led to the Wolverines netting the game-winning goal as Hunter Schmitz one-timed a shot after a pass from Jackson Reineke and another helper from Campbell Cichosz. Robbins and the Wolverines would fend off a late penalty to secure the 2-1 win. Jr. Blues goalie Ethan Roberts made 28 saves in the loss. Boxscore
