Some of the notable 32 players competing in the event include Denver defenseman Kyle Mayhew, who spent two seasons playing in the NAHL with Fairbanks and Aberdeen, and who also previously played in the NAPHL. Former Wichita Falls Wildcats forward Garrett VanWyhe has 11 points in 41 games played for the University of Michigan this season and was part of the Wildcats team that played in the 2016 Robertson Cup. Former Bismarck Bobcats defenseman Carl Fish leads a strong blueline contingent for the University of Minnesota. Former Corpus Christi and Springfield goalie Dryden McKay leads Minnesota State.
