Saturday Scores: Jets, Mudbugs make playoff push with sweeps

Shreveport forward Timofei Khokhlachev had five points in a weekend road sweep of Corpus Christi.

Chippewa 2 @ Janesville 6: Cy LeClerc registered a hat trick as the Janesville Jets continued their winning ways and defeated the Chippewa Steel 6-2. William Gustavsson ended the night with three points as he had a goal and two assists. Joseph Kramer and Spencer Kring both found the back of the net as well for the Jets. Owen Millward picked up the win in goal as he stopped 27 Chippewa shots. Sam Frandina scored both of the Steel’s goals while Nick Haas and Croix Kochendorfer combined to make 34 saves.

Shreveport 5 @ Corpus Christi 3: Five different Mudbugs lit the lamp as Shreveport knocked off Corpus Christi 5-3. Trenton Heyde and Burke Simpson netted goals in the first, Gunner Moore grabbed a second period tally while Logan Heroux and Logan Valkama added third period markers. Colby Seitz, Michael Casey Jr and Dylan Contreras all picked up goals for Corpus Christi. Devon Bobak earned the win in goal by making 25 stops. Stefan Carney denied 26 shots in the loss. 

North Iowa 5 @ Springfield 3: Dylan Gajewski picked up a hat trick as the North Iowa Bulls finished off the sweep of the Springfield Jr. Blues with a 5-3 win on Saturday night. Sean Vlasich notched a goal and an assist while Michael Mesic also scored. Hagen Moe potted a pair of goals while James Callahan also got on the board for Springfield. Kyle Kozma grabbed the win in between the pipes with 32 saves while Ethan Roberts was tagged with the loss, making 38 stops. 

Austin 2 @ Bismarck 5: Brady Egan remained hot and scored two goals as the Bismarck Bobcats defeated the Austin Bruins 5-2. Michael Neumeier had a goal and an assist while Luke Roelofs and Calvin Hanson also got on the scoresheet. Michal Jasenec and Therien Thiesing were the goal scorers for the Bruins as they dropped their seventh in a row. Oskar Spinnars Nordin was the winner in net as he made 30 saves. Klayton Knapp took the loss as he stopped 25 of 29 shots. 

Lone Star 5 @ El Paso 1: Five different Brahmas got on the scoresheet as Lone Star beat El Paso 5-1. Dylan Smith had a goal and an assist for the Brahmas while Tanner Daniels, Logan Tobias, Ben Zimmerman and Nicholas Niemo all got on the board. Arthur Smith allowed just one goal again, this time needing just 15 saves. Hayden Cox had the lone goal for El Paso while Jacob Zacharewicz turned aside 41 shots. 

Danbury 2 @ Jamestown 6: Joshua Burke tallied two goals and an assist as the Jamestown Rebels defeated the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks 6-2. Jak Vaarwerk had a goal and two assists of his own while Max Hamstad registered a goal and an assist. John Lundy and Mitch Lafay also got on the scoresheet for Jamestown. Nick Cullinan and Matthew Danziger scored for Danbury in the loss. Nolan Suggs made 31 saves for the Rebels while Marino Ramirez stopped 25 shots in the loss. 

Maryland 2 @ Johnstown 3: Jake Black scored with just 1:44 remaining in regulation to lift the Johnstown Tomahawks over the Maryland Black Bears by a score of 3-2. Braedon Ford and Frank Jenkins also lit the lamp for the Tomahawks in the victory. Elliott Lareau and Ryan Bottrill were the goal scorers for the Black Bears. Dominik Wasik took home the win in goal as he made 27 saves while Luca Di Pasquo made 16 saves in the loss.

New Jersey 0 @ Maine 2: Gus Holt was sensational as he turned aside all 40 shoots the New Jersey Titans fired in his direction as the Maine Nordiques blanked the Titans 2-0. The game remained scoreless until midway through the third as Nicholas Bernardo converted on the power play for Maine. Holt would make 17 saves in the final frame to hold on until Matthew Connor potted an empty net tally in the final seconds. Ben Charette suffered the loss in goal as he made 27 stops for New Jersey. 

St. Cloud 0 @ MN Wilderness 8: The Minnesota Wilderness brought the St. Cloud Norsemen’s 13 game winning streak to a screeching halt as they took an 8-0 decision on Saturday night. Sam Antenucci potted a pair of goals while Nicholas Rexine had a goal and two assists. Gunnar Thoreson, Max Neill and Jared Mangan each had a goal and an assist while Calvin Knight also scored. Matthew Smith was a perfect 17 for 17 in between the pipes to earn his fifth win of the season. Tomas Bolo and Ethan Dahlmeir teamed up to make 22 saves.

New Mexico 4 @ Amarillo 2: The Ice Wolves got out to a big lead and never looked back as they doubled up the Wranglers 4-2. Gustav Blom led the team with a goal and two helpers. Brandon Holt had a goal and an assist while Nicloas Haviar and Sully Scholle each added a goal for New Mexico. Beni Halasz stopped 25 shots to get back into the win column. Tommy Chunchukov netted two goals for Amarillo while Max Gutjahr stopped 31 shots. 

Minot 2 @ Aberdeen 1 (OT): Ben Johnson scored with a second left in overtime to lift the Minot Minotauros to a 2-1 victory over the Aberdeen Wings. Ronan Walsh started the scoring for the Wings as his 19th of the season made it a 1-0 game. David Nesburg evened the score just before the end of the second period as Dean Schwenninger and Johnson set him up on the power play. That would set the stage for Johnson’s heroics in the extra period. Zach Sandy got the win in goal as he made 36 stops. Anton Castro suffered the tough loss despite making 30 saves. 

MN Magicians 4 @ Kenai River 2: Hunter Longhi picked up a pair of goals to lead the Minnesota Magicians to a 4-2 win over the Kenai River Brown Bears. Lucas Kanta contributed a goal and two helpers for the Magicians while Gavin Best also tallied a goal for Minnesota. Caden Triggs had a goal and an assist for Kenai River. Nick Stevens also picked up a goal for the Brown Bears. Josh Langford grabbed the win in goal as he made 36 stops. Levi Gho was dealt the loss despite making 37 stops of his own.
