Bismarck forward McLean makes NCAA DI commitment
The Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Jake McLean has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Bemidji State University in the CCHA.
McLean, 19, is in his first season of playing in the NAHL and third season of junior hockey overall. The 6’1/175 lbs. native of North Vancouver, BC, is currently leading the Bobcats in scoring this season with 40 points (12 goals, 28 assists) in 44 games to date.
“Excited to announce my commitment to play Division 1 Hockey at Bemidji State University. Thanks to my friends and family for helping me achieve this goal! #GoBeavs,” stated McLean.
McLean was named the Central Division Star of the Week for the week of January 10-16 as he put up three goals and an assist in two wins.
"Hockey is a small world, and you build your connections, I got Jake because of a good friend," Bobcats coach and general manager Layne Sedevie said. "He’s been our best player all season long, our most consistent player. Jake’s been there all year long, through some of the downs and the ups as well, and that consistency is the reason he leads our team in scoring.”
"He’s got about as big a role as anybody on our team," Sedevie said. "He’s made the most of it, which is up to the player."
He is the fifth player on the Bobcats 2021-22 roster who has secured an NCAA Division I commitment.
