Fairbanks and Maine win on Thursday
MN Magicians 4 @ Fairbanks 7 – The Ice Dogs got a hat-trick from Alexander Malinowski and two more goals from Cameron Ricotta as they beat the Magicians on Thursday, 7-4. After an opening goal from Fairbanks’ Marcus Lund, the Magicians took a 2-1 lead with a pair of goals from Lucas Kanta. The Ice Dogs regained the lead early in the 2nd period on a pair of goals from Ricotta. Hunter Longhi scored for the Magicians to tie the game at 3-3. Late in the 2nd period, the Ice Dogs took the lead for good on Malinowski’s first of the game. Malinowski then scored back-to-back goals in the 3rd period to complete his hat-trick and Jack Ring also added a goal to complete the scoring for Fairbanks. Trevor Kukkonen had the other goal for the Magicians. Kayden Hargraves made 30 saves in the win, while Josh Langford made 20 saves in the loss.
Maine 3 @ Danbury 2 – Nordiques goalie Avery Sturtz made 23 saves to lead his team to a 3-2 win over the Jr. Hat Tricks on Thursday. Maine opened up a 2-0 lead in the 1st period thanks to goals from Filip Wiberg and Tristan Fasig. In the 2nd period, the Nordiques went up 3-0 thanks to a power play goal from Theo Thrun, which was his 7th goal of the season. Danbury mounted a comeback later in the 2nd period and into the 3rd period with goals from Marian Haborak and Robert Hyde, but could not find the equalizer. Danbury goalie Marino Ramirez made 46 saves in the loss.
