February 3, 2022

Kevin Scott played in the 2021 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the East Division team.

The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that Top Prospects defenseman Kevin Scott has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Atlantic Hockey.

Scott, 18, is in his second season playing the NAHL for the Black Bears. The 6’3/200 lbs. native of Ashburn, VA, currently has recorded 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists) in 37 games played so far during the 2021-22 season.

“I would like to give a big thanks to everyone in the Black Bears organization. My coaches, teammates, family, and billet family have all developed me into a better player and person. These past two years have been a tremendous experience and I am super excited to continue my athletic and academic career with RIT,” said Scott.

Scott made his NAHL debut during the 2019-20 season as an affiliate player for the Black Bears. He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2020 NAHL Draft and recorded three points in 35 games played during his rookie season in 2020-21.

He was also selected to and played in the 2021 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the East Division team.

"We are excited for Kevin and feel that RIT is getting not only a talented defenseman, but also a strong leader. Since he got here, he has applied what he has been taught to his game and has really worked hard at improving his skill sets. We have known Kevin for several years, and it has been fun watching him develop and continue to improve. We are proud of Kevin, and very happy for him and his family. They have trusted us to be a part of the path that has led him to this NCAA commitment,” said Maryland head coach Clint Mylymok.
