Friday Finals: Bobcats continue winning ways with offensive eruption

Anchorage forward Aiden Westin had two goal and two assists in an 8-1 win on Friday over Fairbanks.

North Iowa 7 @ Bismarck 9 - Quinn Rudrud registered a hat trick as the Bismarck Bobcats won a high scoring affair with the North Iowa Bulls by a score of 9-7. Michael Neumeier had a goal and added an assist. Ben Troumbly, Adam Pietila, Eddie Shepler, Owen Michaels and Drew Holt all lit the lamp for Bismarck. Carter Rapalje led North Iowa with two goals and an assist. Sean Vlasich chipped in a goal and an assist for the Bulls while Greg Japchen, Jack Mesic, Brett Morich and Hunter Bulger all contributed goals. Oskar Spinnars Nordin made 24 saves for the Bobcats while Hudson Hodges took the loss as he made 32 stops. 

Fairbanks 1 @ Anchorage 8 – Aiden Westin had two goals and two assists while Talon Sigurdson had two goals of his own as the Anchorage Wolverines beat the Fairbanks Ice Dogs 8-1. Hunter Bischoff and Colton Friesen each had a goal and an assist while Hayden Hennen and Hunter Schmitz added goals as well. Billy Renfrew picked up the only goal for Fairbanks in the loss. Raythan Robbins was nearly perfect as he made 24 saves on 25 shots. Tyler Krivtsov and Kayden Hargraves combined to make 16 saves. 

Lone Star 5 @ Amarillo 1 – Five different Brahmas got on to the scoresheet as they completed the sweep of the Amarillo Wrangles with a 5-1 win on Friday night. Logan Tobias and Artur Turansky each had a goal and an assist. Frankie Ireland, Nicholas Niemo and Mason Mara chipped in goals for the Brahmas. Amarillo’s only goal came off the stick of Kristaps Skrastins, his 21st of the season. Arthur Smith made 20 saves as the Brahmas continued the winning ways while May Gutjahr and Connor Storbel teamed up to make 17 saves. 

Johnstown 5 @ Maine 3 - Ryan Vellucci, Jake Black and Egan Schmitt all had a goal and an assist as the Johnstown Tomahawks topped the Maine Nordiques 5-3. Sean Ramsay and Stephen Kyrkostas also lit the lamp in the win. Theo Thrun was the catalyst for the Maine offense as he had a goal and two helpers. Jonny Meiers and Tyler Gaulin also got on the scoresheet for the Nordiques. Matthew O’Donnell stopped 32 shots to earn the win for Johnstown while Avery Sturtz stopped 35 shots in the loss.

Maryland 3 @ Jamestown 4 (SO) - Nolan Grier and Jak Vaarwerk scored in the shootout as the Jamestown Rebels edged the Maryland Black Bears 4-3. John Lundy scored twice in the opening period to give the Rebels the lead. Laker Aldridge got Maryland within one but Vaarwerk scored to give the Rebels their two goal lead back before the third period. Brad McNeil and Elliot Lareau beach scored in the final minutes to force the extra time and steal a point for the Black Bears. Jon Howe scored the win in net making 33 saves. Luca Di Pasquo was given the loss as he made 25 stops.

Northeast 5 @ New Jersey 4 (OT) - Ryan Gordon’s second goal of the game was the game winner in overtime as the Northeast Generals beat the New Jersey Titans 5-4. Paul Minnehan, Joe Schubert and David Tolan each scored for the Generals. Stephen Willey netted a pair of goals for the Titans while Anthony Calafiore and Chris Carroll also found the back of the net for New Jersey. Cullen DeYoung denied 30 shots to get the win while Andrew Takacs turned aside 26 shots. 

Aberdeen 2 @ Austin 3 (OT) - Carson Riddle scored 2:25 into overtime as the Austin Bruins defeated the Aberdeen Wings 3-2. Austin Salani and Anthony Menghini gave Austin a 2-0 lead in the opening frame. Ronan Walsh netted a power play goal to get the Wings within one and Kyle Gaffney tied the game to force the overtime and Riddle’s game winner. Klayton Knapp took the win in blue paint while Greg Orosz was given the loss.  

Odessa 1 @ Wichita Falls 6 - Hunter Jones netted two goals and two assists as the Wichita Falls Warriors dominated the Odessa Jackalopes 6-1. Jospeh Harguindeguy had two points of his own while Marshall Beaker, Cade Lemmer and Riley Brueck all scored for the Warriors. Tanyon Bajzer had the lone goal for Odessa in the loss. Daniel Duris stopped 20 shots to earn the win in net, William Proctor and Noah Rupprecht combined to make 35 saves for the Jacks. 

Chippewa 2 @ Springfield 5 – Hagen Moe scored twice and added an assist as the Springfield Jr. Blues topped the Chippewa Steel 5-2. Zach Bade and Leo Bacallao each grabbed a goal and an assist each for the Jr. Blues while Carson Jones also lit the lamp. Ethan Benz and Joseph Grainda notched the goals for the Steel. Aksel Reid turned aside 23 shots while Levi Gho stopped 37 pucks in the loss. 

MN Magicians 3 @ MN Wilderness 5 – Bryce Howard potted a pair of goals as the Wilderness beat the Magicians 5-3. Calvin Knight had three setups for the Wilderness while Ethan Wolthers, Aaron Pionk and Max Neill all tickled the twine in the win. Colin Tushie, Jon Bell and Trevor Kukkonen were the goal scorers for the Magicians. Matthew Smith stayed perfect on the year. Henry Levy and Vincent Castelletti teamed up to make 41 saves.

Corpus Christi 4 @ El Paso 3 - Four straight goals from the IceRays helped them secure a 4-3 win over the El Paso Rhinos. After Nick Turek and Bo Cosman put the Rhinos up 2-0. Stepan Kuznetsov scored twice while Charlie Murphy and Blake Lewis to put Corpus Christi up by two. Turek’s second of the game got the Rhinos within one but that’s as close as they would get. Stefan Carney stopped 51 shots to earn the win in goal. Lassi Lehti made 42 saves in the loss for El Paso. 

St. Cloud 4 @ Minot 1 - Broten Sabo and Blake Mesenburg each had a goal and an assist as the Norsemen took down the Minotauros 4-1 on Friday night. Peyton Hanson and Ryan O’Neill got on the scoresheet as well for St. Cloud. Tomas Bolo grabbed the win in net as he made 17 stops. Braydon Beahm had the only goal for Minot while Austin Zavoda notched 41 saves. 

Shreveport 3 @ New Mexico 4 (SO) – Wilmer Svensson had the game deciding goal in the shootout as New Mexico beat Shreveport 4-3. Blayde Pogreba and Tony Leahy got the Ice Wolves ahead by a pair of goals. Jake Mack and Logan Gotinsky evened the game at two apiece. William Howard put the Ice Wolves ahead going into the third period but Connor Gatto scored with just a second left to force overtime and the subsequent shootout. Beni Halasz needed just 17 saves to earn the win in goal while Devon Bobak denied 23 of the shots he faced. 

Janesville 4 @ Kenai River 1 – Four different Jets found the back of the net as Janesville defeated Kenai River 4-1. Jimmy Doyle and Jack Larrigan each had a goal and an assist for the Jets. Jack Ford and Jan Lasak tallied goals for the Jets as well. Owen Millward stayed hot as he made 28 stops for the Jets. Hunter Newhouse had the only goal for the Brown Bears while Cole Wheaton took the loss in net as he made 18 saves.
