Saturday Scores: Sweep puts Bruins back in 1st place
Minot 0 @ Austin 1 – Sutter Muzzatti netted the one and only goal of the game as the Austin Bruins blanked the Minot Minotauros 1-0. Walter Zacher and John Larkin picked up the helpers on the only goal of the game. Klayton Knapp was perfect as he turned aside all 27 shots that were in his direction. Carter Clafton was nearly perfect as he stopped 31 of 32 in a tough loss for Minot.
Maine 3 @ Jamestown 4 – Landon MacDonald and Mitch Lafay each had a goal for the Jamestown Rebels as they outlasted the Maine Nordiques 4-3. Owen Simmons and Kolby Amici each lit the lamp for the Rebels as well. Ignat Belov had two points for the Nordiques while Aidan Connolly and Theo Thrun grabbed goals for Maine. Jon Howe earned the win in goal as he made 38 stops while Avery Sturtz made 31 saves in the loss for Maine.
Aberdeen 5 @ North Iowa 4 (SO) – For the second consecutive night the Aberdeen Wings defeated the North Iowa Bulls in a shootout, this time winning the game 5-4. North Iowa got off to a fast start scoring just eight seconds into the game thanks to Logan Dombrowsky. Hugo Allais would tie things up for Aberdeen quickly but goals from Jack Mesic and Carter Rapalje gave North Iowa a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes. Aberdeen struck three times in the middle frame, Landry Schmuck, Cade Neilson and Ronan Walsh all scored to give Aberdeen their first lead of the night. Joey Potter would scored in the third period to force overtime and the eventual shootout. Neilson scored the only goal in the skills competition to help the Wings skate away with the victory. Greg Orosz 11 shots to earn the win in net. Hunter Garvey made 34 saves in the loss for North Iowa.
Wichita Falls 2 @ Shreveport 0 – Brandon Milberg denied all 15 shots he faced as the Wichita Falls Warriors blanked the Shreveport Mudbugs 2-0. Dominick Rivelli’s first goal of the season proved to be the game winner and William Lawson-Body scored an empty net goal to ice the game for the Warriors. Devon Bobak was phenomenal for the Mudbugs as he turned aside 22 of 23 shots.
Fairbanks 3 @ Springfield 7 – Zach Bade registered four points while Hagen Moe notched two goals and an assist for the Springfield Jr. Blues in their 7-3 win over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Michael Valdez, Joey Dosan, Connor Smith and Tristan Shewchuk all found the back of the net for Springfield in the victory. Aksel Reid stopped 34 shots for Springfield in net. Sam Berry led the Ice Dogs with a goal and an assist. Billy Renfrew and Cameron Ricotta added goals for Fairbanks. Tyler Krivtsov took the loss as he made 37 saves.
Kenai River 2 @ Janesville 3 (OT) – Jan Lasak scored just 16 seconds into overtime to give the Jets a 3-2 win in overtime over Kenai River. Ethan Begg scored just 68 seconds into the action with his 10th goal of the season before Kevin Marx Noren tied the contest up almost halfway through the second. Jonah Aegerter scored shorthanded to give Janesville the lead early in the second period but Ryan Finch would answer to tie the game for the Brown Bears. Lasak converted on a one timer off a pass from Cy LeClerc as the Jets completed the weekend split. Millward made 30 saves to grab the win in net while Tommy Aitken stopped 28 of 31 shots.
Danbury 1 @ Northeast 4 – Cullen DeYoung stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced as the Northeast Generals topped the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks 4-1. Matt Boczar led the way with a goal and an assist while Tyler DesRochers, Ryan Corcoran and Douglas Friberg also got on the scoresheet. David Andreychuk chipped in three assists while Gabe Dombrowski had the lone goal for Danbury. Josh Seeley made 27 saves in the loss.
New Jersey 2 @ Maryland 4 – Two late goals lifted the Maryland Black Bears to a 4-2 win over the New Jersey Titans. Brendan Dumas and Tyler Young traded goals in the first period while Miles Gunty and Tommy Bannister each gave their teams a goal in the second period. Branden Piku scored with just under four minutes to play to give Maryland the lead before Ryan Bottrill scored 88 seconds later to put the nail in the coffin for the Black Bears. Luca Di Pasquo got the win in goal as he made 36 saves while Andrew Takacs stopped 24 shots.
Bismarck 1 @ St. Cloud 7 – A five-goal explosion in the second period helped the St. Cloud Norsemen cruise to a 7-1 win over the Bismarck Bobcats. Brandon Lajoie, Evan Murr and Blake Perbix all had a goal and an assist for the Norsemen. Peyton Hanson, John Opilka, Ryan O’Neill and Logan Kittleson all lit the lamp as well for St. Cloud. Ethan Dahlmeir needed just 17 saves to pick up the win while Ben Behrens and Oskar Spinnars Nordin combined to Make 42 saves in the loss.
Anchorage 3 @ MN Magicians 5 – Trevor Kukkonen registered two goals and an assist as the Minnesota Magicians defeated the Anchorage Wolverines 5-3. Spencer Light chipped in three helpers while Daniil Dolzhenko, Robert Christy and Gavin Best all helped the Magicians grab the victory. Talon Sigurdson added to his league lead in goals while Bohdan Panasenko and Danny Reis also tallied goals for Anchorage. Henry Levy was the winner in the blue paint as he made 28 saves while Shane Soderwall stopped 20 Minnesota shots.
Odessa 3 @ Amarillo 5 – Five different players visited the red light district as the Amarillo Wranglers beat the Odessa Jackalopes 5-3. Glebs Prohorenkovs, Ben Biester, Aidan Carney and Jayden Price all scored to put Amarillo up 4-0 midway through the game. Ty Neckar, Ryan Mansfield and Evan Orr scored of Odessa to bring the Jackalopes within a goal but Drayton Todoroff put home an empty net goal to put the game on ice. Max Gutjahr was the winner in goal as he made 25 save for Amarillo. Noah Rupprecht made 26 stops for Odessa in the loss.
New Mexico 1 @ Corpus Christi 5 – Michael Casey Jr. potted a goal and two assists as the Corpus Christi IceRays took down the Ice Wolves 5-1. Cameron Crolley had a goal and an assist for Corpus Christi while Jack Wandmacher, Nathan Butler and Dominic Foglia all lit the lamp for the IceRays. Damon Beaver was great in goal as he stopped 34 shots. Grant Ellings netted the only tally for the Ice Wolves while Carson Stokes made 19 stops for New Mexico.
Chippewa 3 @ MN Wilderness 0 – Croix Kochendorfer was perfect he stopped all 31 Minnesota shots in the Chippewa’s 3-0 win on Saturday night. Nick Sajevic led the Chippewa offense with a goal and an assist. Sam Frandina and Ryan Remick also tallied goals for the Steel. Konrad Kausch stopped 21 shots for the Wilderness in the loss.
El Paso 6 @ Lone Star 4 – Matt Johnson had a pair of goals to lead the El Paso Rhinos to a 6-4 win over the Lone Star Brahmas. Donovan O’Neil had a goal and a helper while Jonathan Horn, Graham Harris and Maksis Brimanis all tickled the twine for the Rhinos. Dylan Smith led Lone Star with a goal and an assist. Jack Collins, Nicholas Niemo and Carter Cloutier all scored for the Brahmas in a losing effort. Jacob Zacharewicz got his first win as a Rhino as he stopped 25 shots. Austin Schwab took the loss in net for the Brahmas as he made 20 saves.
