Jets edge Brown Bears in shootout on Thursday, 4-3

Jets goalie Michael DOrazio made a season-high 42 saves on Thursday night in a 4-3 shootout win.

Kenai River 3 @ Janesville 4 (SO) – The Jets survived a valiant comeback by the Brown Bears to pick up two points in a 4-3 shootout win in Janesville in the lone NAHL game on Thursday night.

Things were looking good for the Jets early as all three regulation goals were scored in the 1st period as they jumped out to a 3-1 lead behind tallies from AJ Casperson, Arsenii Smekhnov, and Cy LeClerc. Bryce Monrean had the lone goal for Kenai River in the opening period.

The Brown Bears cut the lead down to 3-2 in the 2nd period thanks to a power play goal from Kaden Hjelm.

In the 3rd period, Kenai River tied the game thanks to a power play goal from Caden Triggs with just 3:38 remaining in regulation.

After a scoreless overtime, the Jets scored the lone goal of the shootout as Jan Lasak found the back of the net as the 4th shooter for the Jets.

Michael D’Orazio made 42 saves in the Jets win, while Tommy Aitken made 22 saves in the shootout loss.
