Wilderness defenseman Pionk makes NCAA DI commitment
The Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Aaron Pionk has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Minnesota State University in the CCHA.
Pionk, 18, is in his second season playing for the Wilderness. The 6’1/170 lbs. native of Hermantown, MN, currently has recorded 18 points (5 goals, 13 assists) in 31 games played so far during the 2021-22 regular season.

Pionk made his NAHL debut last season with the Wilderness, appearing in 10 games in April and May. He recorded three points during his rookie campaign.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Pionk played three seasons for Hermantown High School. Pionk scored 30 goals and had 53 assists in those three seasons, including 40 points last season in the Hawks’ run to the Minnesota Class A quarterfinal.
