December 14, 2021

Anchorage forward Talon Sigurdson, who played two years in the NAPHL, is currently leading the NAHL in goals scored with 23 so far this season.

The Anchorage Wolverines, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward and NAPHL grad Talon Sigurdson has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Arizona State.

Sigurdson, 19, is in his second season playing junior hockey and first playing in the NAHL. The 6’2/180 lbs. native of Sartell, MN, is currently leading the NAHL in goals with 23. That goes along with nine assists and a total of 32 points in 26 games played, which is currently leading the Wolverines in scoring this season.

“Thank you to my parents for their support and guidance. To my brothers for being my biggest fans. To my coaches and teammates for the tools and challenges to keep growing. I've made the decision to commit to Arizona State University. Can't wait to be a Sun Devil! All the glory goes to God,” said Sigurdson. “I chose Arizona State because I feel it is the best place for me to get an education and to be successful as I continue my hockey journey. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders it feels good to have made the decision and be able to put all my attention on continuing to get better every day.”

“Arizona State is getting a great hockey player and an even better person. Talon is the perfect example of a person getting rewarded for doing things the right way both on and off the ice. The Wolverines are honored to be part of Talon’s journey,” said Anchorage head coach Mike Aikens.

Sigurdson is another great example of the NAPHL to NAHL Ladder of Development, having played in the NAPHL for two seasons leading up to playing in the NAHL.

During the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns, Sigurdson played for the Northstar Knights 18U team. During the 2019-20 season, he put up 19 points in 16 NAPHL games and six goals in six playoff games. In 2018-19, he had 10 points in 8 NAPHL games and seven points in five playoff games.

He made his NAHL debut with the Aberdeen Wings on January 14, 2020.
