Johnstown and El Paso pick up wins on Thursday
Johnstown 3 @ Danbury 2 - The Johnstown Tomahawks topped the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks Thursday night with a 3-2 win in Danbury. Danbury’s Jazz Krivtsov struck first on the power play with 3:47 to go in the 1st period. Jacob Badal responded for the Tomahawks tying it up 1:03 later with his eighth goal of the season. In the 3rd period, Jake Black scored the go-ahead goal for the Tomahawks midway through the 3rd to make it 2-1 in favor of the Tomahawks. Badal added on to the Tomahawks lead late in the 3rd period with his second goal of the game. Mike Salandra scored for Danbury with an extra-attacker to make it a one-goal game again with less than two minutes to go in regulation. Tomahawks goalie Salvatore Evola made 30 saves in the win, while Josh Seeley made 38 saves in the loss.
El Paso 4 @ Odessa 2 – The Rhinos picked up a much-needed 4-2 road win in Odessa on Thursday. Graham Harris and Aleksi Kayra each had a goal and an assist in the win. El Paso jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st period as Kayra and Alex Krause scored. Odessa tied the game at 2-2 by the early 3rd period as Tanyon Bajzer and Brendan Finn scored. However, later in the 3rd period, the Rhinos grabbed the win with goals from Philip Quetell and Harris. Lassi Lehti made 28 saves in the win, while Alex Proctor made 31 saves in the loss.
