Maine forward Mathews makes NCAA commitment

The Maine Nordiques are proud to announce that forward Ty Mathews has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at UMass-Boston.
Mathews, 21, joined the Nordiques in his final year of junior hockey eligibility and added a balance of grit and skill to the Nordiques.
The 5’11/180 lbs. native of Auburn, MA, suited up for 25 games including 4 playoff games and was able to rally 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points.
“Ty was able to use his two-way game at center winning face-offs on both sides of the puck and playing solid defense in the slot. He also wasn’t afraid to shoot the puck and get one on net forcing the goalie to make a save and generating rebound opportunities. He was also able to win key face-offs during the season which allowed us to get it out of the zone quickly or keep up the offensive pressure. We wish him luck at UMass-Boston, a great NCAA program,” said Nordiques head coach Nolan Howe.
