Shreveport defenseman Metcalfe makes NCAA DI commitment

July 29, 2021

The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Aidan Metcalfe has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Connecticut in Hockey East.

Metcalfe, 21, just completed his second and final season of playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the Robertson Cup Champion Mudbugs.

The 6’3/194 lbs. native of Palos Verdes, CA, posted 18 points (all assists) in 55 games played during the 2020-21 season. He also added four points in 10 Robertson Cup Playoff games helping the Mudbugs to the title.

“Aidan plays a very consistent brand of hockey that consists of subtle but effective plays.  He will take hits to make plays and play a tough brand of hockey. He’ll be a great teammate and the community will love him,” said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell.

During the 2019-20 season, Metcalfe was named to the NAHL All-South Division Rookie Team thanks to a stellar rookie season that included 23 points in just 43 games played.

Overall, in his two-year NAHL career, Metcalfe recorded 41 points in 98 career NAHL regular season games.
