Jets, Norsemen, Magicians, and Wings win on Thursday

St. Cloud forward Jack Suchy had two goals in a 4-2 win on Thursday and now has 10 points in his last five games.

Janesville 5 @ Fairbanks 3 – Five different players scored for the Jets as the spoiled the Ice Dogs return to Alaska and the Big Dipper Ice Arena in a 5-3 road win on Thursday. The Jets jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a 1st period goal from Cade Destefani and a 2nd period goal from Charlie Schoen. Laker Aldridge scored for the Ice Dogs to make it a 2-1 game after two periods. The Jets would then add three more goals in the 3rd period as Nick Leyer, Carter Hottmann and Matthew Romer all scored, while the Ice Dogs got goals in the 3rd period from Tristan Sarsland and Bret Link. Jets goalie Riley Sims made 25 saves in the win, while Kayden Hargraves made 31 saves in the loss.

St. Cloud 4 @ MN Wilderness 2 – Jack Suchy scored twice and Paxton Geisel made 31 saves to lead the Norsemen to a 4-2 road win in Cloquet against the Wilderness on Thursday. Suchy opened the scoring for the Norsemen with his ninth goal of the season in the early moments of the first. Two quick goals from the Wilderness’ Donte Lawson and Grant Doctor put the Norsemen down 2-1. Late in the frame, Suchy, again, found the back of the net for his 10th of the season. After a center-ice interception, St. Cloud entered the offensive zone with a two-on-one and converted when Blake Mesenburg passed to Blake Perbix who lifted his third of the season into the back of the net. An empty-net goal from Nik Hong would secure the 4-2 victory for St. Cloud, their fourth of the season over the Wilderness. Wilderness goalie Kaleb Johnson made 30 saves in the loss.

Austin 2 @ MN Magicians 3 (SO) – Magicians goalie Andy Beran made 33 saves and stopped all three Bruins shooters in a shootout to lead the Magicians to a 3-2 win at home over the Bruins. The Bruins got on the board in the 1st period thanks to Mason Poolman’s 4th goal of the season. The Magicians took their first lead of the night in the 2nd period thanks to back-to-back power play goals from Simon Falk and Luc Laylin. In the 3rd period, the Bruins tied the game at 2-2 with a goal from Carson Riddle, which sent the game to overtime and then a shootout. Hunter Longhi had the lone shootout goal for either team to collect the extra point in the standings. Bruins goalie Hudson Hodges made 31 saves in the shootout loss.

Aberdeen 7 @ Minot 2 – The Wings erased an early 2-0 1st period deficit and scored seven unanswered goals in the 2nd and 3rd periods to pick up a 7-2 road win in Minot on Thursday. Things looked good for the Minotauros early as they led 2-0 after the 1st period with goals from Brett Roloson and Max Bogdanovich. After that, it was all Wings, which included a 53-26 shots advantage. In the 2nd period, the Wings took a 4-2 lead thanks to two goals from Michael Reed and others from Clayton Cosentino and Liam Fraser. Aberdeen added three more goals in the 3rd period to put the game on ice as Jordan Randall, Christian Abrams, and Jake Goldowski all scored. Jake Sibell made 24 saves in the win, while Keenan Rancier made 46 saves in the loss.
