Brown Bears and Norsemen win on Tuesday
Fairbanks 4 @ Kenai River 6 – Daymin Dodge and Morgan Winters each had three-point nights as the Brown Bears used a three-goal 3rd period to defeat Fairbanks, 6-4. Things were even after one period as Owen Neuharth started the scoring for Fairbanks, which was answered by a goal from Kenai’s Peter Morgan. The Brown Bears then took a 3-1 lead in the 2nd period with goals from Dodge and Brandon Lajoie. Before the period was over Fairbanks made it 3-2 on a goal from Jacob Conrad. Kenai River pulled away in the 3rd period, which included goals from Winters, another from Dodge, and one from David Vieten. The other Ice Dogs goals came from Ty Naaykens and Mason Plante in the 3rd period. Brown Bears goalie David Rose made 31 saves in the win, while Ryan Keyes made 31 saves in the loss.
MN Wilderness 0 @ St. Cloud 2 - Josh Langford’s 30 save shutout powered the St. Cloud Norsemen to a 2-0 victory over the Minnesota Wilderness, their third straight victory on home ice. With seven minutes gone by in the first period, Blake Mesenburg scored his eighth of the season for the 1-0 lead. After a hard-fought second period produced nothing on the score sheet, the Norsemen would add a third period, empty-net goal from Nik Hong to the score line for the 2-0 win. Norsemen goaltender Josh Langford earned his fourth victory of the season and stopped all 30 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season. Wilderness goalie Jacob Zacharewicz stopped 27 of 28 shots in the loss.
