NAHL Weekend Preview

March 5, 2021

The first full weekend of March features a busy schedule in the NAHL with 21 games on the slate.

It was another great week for NCAA commitments, as three more players announced their commitments to the next level. That brings bringing the current season total to 262 players (including a new record of 250 Division I commitments) who are playing in the league and are committed to playing NCAA hockey in 2020-21.

Teams once again took advantage of some mid-week games as everyone continues to try and get a full schedule of games in for the 2020-21 regular season.

Streaks collide this weekend in the Central Division as the NAHL-leading Aberdeen Wings put their 29-1-1 record on the line as they host the Austin Brins, who have lost three straight. The Minnesota Wilderness will take their three-game winning streak into Bismarck to face the Bobcats, who are 3-0-1 in their last four games. The Minot Minotauros will look to snap their four-game slide as they visit the St. Cloud Norsemen, who have dropped their last two.

In the East Division, while division-leading Maine is idle, it is a chance for everyone else to gain ground. The New Jersey Titans, who have won two straight games, are in Maryland to face the Black Bears, who are looking to snap an 8-game slide. The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks return home to face the 2nd place Johnstown Tomahawks.

In the Midwest, 1st place is on the line as the Minnesota Magicians host the Janesville Jets, with both teams sitting at 30 points atop the Midwest Division. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs look to build off the momentum of a 6-2 win on Thursday against the Magicians as they travel to Chippewa on Friday.

In the South, it is a full slate of games as the division-leading Shreveport Mudbugs return to action to try and slow down the surging Wichita Falls Warriors, who have won 11 straight games, in a three-game series. The Amarillo Bulls look to continue their winning ways as they face the New Mexico Ice Wolves in a three-game set. The final series has the Lone Star Brahmas hosting Odessa, as the Jackalopes are looking to snap a five-game slide.
