New Jersey forward Nazzarett makes NCAA DI commitment

March 5, 2021

The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Zach Nazzarett has committed to play NCAA Division I Hockey for the Long Island University Sharks who are an independent team. His commitment begins in the fall of 2021.

Nazzarett, 20, is in his second stint with the Titans. He originally played during the 2018-19 campaign where he had 37 points (14 goals and 23 assists) in 53 games. He then went to play at the University of Alaska-Anchorage.

After UAA suspended its hockey program due to COVID-19, Nazzarett was able to return to the Titans this season since he had a year of junior hockey eligibility remaining. This year he as 14 points (6 goals and 8 assists) in 15 games.

He was named the East Division Star of the Week for the week of February 1-7.

“I would like to thank Craig, Bobby and the whole Titans staff for all the support this year,” stated Nazzarett. “I am so honored to call a program like the New Jersey Titans my home, and I look forward to LIU.”

“We are so proud of Zach on his commitment to Long Island University,” stated Titans head coach and general manager Craig Doremus. “Zach returned to the Titans this year after COVID threw a wrench into his career path.  Since rejoining our team this year he has been a great addition to the club on and off the ice.  Zach has added to our offensive attack both at even strength and on the power play.  He has established himself as a positive, mature leader for us. Zach will be a great addition to Coach Riley’s team at LIU.  He will fit into their culture extremely well and will contribute to the team right away.  Selfishly I am excited to have Zach playing college hockey in Long Island as hopefully I can get out there to watch him continue his career there.”

Long Island University is in Brooklyn, NY. The Sharks are coached by Brett Riley. This is the program’s inaugural season.
