Ice Wolves and Brown Bears win on Tuesday
Odessa 1 @ New Mexico 5 – Mitch Becker, Spencer Rudrud and Mack Motzko each had a goal and an assist as the Ice Wolves put on a dominant performance in a 5-1 win over the Jackalopes, completing a sweep of the mid-week series. The game was over early as New Mexico scored four goals in a 12-minute stretch of the 1st period, which included goals from Becker, Rudrud, Motzko, in addition to Dillan Bentley. Odessa got on the board in the 2nd period as Tyler German netted his 4th goal of the season for the lone Jackalopes goal. New Mexico’s Alex Gomez would add a goal in the 3rd period to complete the scoring. Ice Wolves goalie Beni Halasz made 12 saves in the win, while Noah Rupprecht made 37 saves in the loss.
MN Wilderness 4 @ Kenai River 5 – Kenai River defenseman Adam Szubert had a goal and two assists to lead the Brown Bears to a 5-4 win over the Wilderness on Tuesday. The Brown Bears opened up a 3-0 lead early in the 2nd period thanks to goals from Morgan Winters, Peter Morgan, and Brandon Lajoie. The Wilderness cut the lead down to 3-1 with a goal from defenseman Bobby Metz. The Brown Bears then went back up by three goals on a goal from David Vieten. Before the 2nd period was done, the Wilderness scored again to make it 4-2 on a goal from Will Traeger. Early in the 3rd period, the Wilderness scored two quick goals from Gunnar Thoreson and Gavin Rasmussen to tie the game at 4-4. Szubert would then net the game-winner later in the period for Kenai River. Luke Pavicich made 33 saves in the win, while Jacob Zacharewicz made 32 saves in the loss.
