Jets, Titans, and Mudbugs win on Thursday

New Jersey and Johnstown battled to a close 6-5 contest on Thursday, which included a last-second goal from Jack Suede (right).

Janesville 3 @ Chippewa 2 – Eli Bowers, who had played earlier in the season with the NA3HL’s Oregon Tradesmen, made 38 saves in his NAHL debut to lead the Jets to a 3-2 road win in Chippewa on Thursday. The Jets jumped out to a 3-0 lead, which included 1st period goals from Jaxson Ezman and Nick Leyer and a 2nd period tally from Charlie Schoen. The Steel mounted a 3rd period comeback thanks to two goals from Spencer Cox and Michael Black, but could not find the equalizer. Steel goalie Grant Boldt made 22 saves in the loss.

Johnstown 5 @ New Jersey 6 – Jack Suede scored with :06 seconds remaining in regulation to give the New Jersey Titans a 6-5 win over Johnstown on Thursday. New Jersey’s Nick Seitz opened the scoring for the Titans in the 1st period. :27 seconds later, Anthony Calafiore would give the Titans a quick two-goal lead in the opening period. Just 14 seconds later, Caden Lewandowski scored his third goal of the season to make it a one-goal game for the Hawks with 9:26 remaining in the 1st. Tyler Nasca got the Titans right into it with a goal only 1:46 into the 2nd period to regain the two-goal lead for New Jersey making it 3-1. Johnstown stormed back as Brendan Clark netted his eighth goal of the season to make it a one-goal game again. A few minutes later, Lewandowski would score his second goal of the game to tie things up at 3 for the Tomahawks. Only a minute and eight seconds later, David Paluch sent a nice wrist shot to the net and Brendan Clark deflected the puck in behind New Jersey goaltender Berk Berkeliev to score his second goal of the game and give the Tomahawks their first lead of the night. The Hawks would carry the 4-3 lead into the 3rd and final period. New Jersey’s Blake Humphrey would score the first goal of the period to tie it back up only 3:01 into the 3rd period. Daniel Tkac netted his third goal of the season for the Tomahawks a little less than halfway through the period giving the Hawks the lead yet again at 5-4. That wouldn’t last long though as New Jersey’s Jake LaRusso tied the game again at 5 only a minute and twenty-two seconds later. With only 6 seconds remaining in regulation, Jake Suede found the back of the net, scoring the winning goal for the Titans to win by a final of 6-5 in a close, competitive game. Berkeliev made 25 saves in the win, while Peyton Grainer made 18 saves in the loss.

Shreveport 4 @ Odessa 2 – The Mudbugs snapped their small two-game slide thanks to two goals in the 3rd period in a 4-2 win in Odessa. Just 1:38 into the game, Braiden Dorfman netted his 10th goal of the season to put the Mudbugs ahead 1-0. Odessa responded with a goal from Tyler German to make it 1-1. Later in the period, it was Griffen Sanom scoring to put the Mudbugs back ahead by a goal at 2-1. In the 2nd period, the Jackalopes tied the game at 2-2 on a goal from Gabe Bennett. The Mudbugs seized control in the 3rd period thanks to the game-winning goal from Mason McCormick and an empty-net goal from Dawson Sciarrino. Shreveport goalie Cole Hudson made 22 saves in the win, while Connor Hasley made 24 saves in the loss.
