Friday Finals: Mudbugs, Wings, Brahmas keep winning streaks alive

Natan Vertes had a hat-trick in a 7-0 win on Friday to help the Aberdeen Wings move their record to 9-0.

Shreveport 6 @ New Mexico 0 - The Shreveport offense once again exploded as they walloped the New Mexico Ice Wolves 6-0. Matt Weber was all over the ice as he potted a pair of goals and added two assists. Giovanni Procopio and Brent Keefer tallied a goal and an assist. Braiden Dorfman and Connor Gatto both also scored in the win for the Mudbugs. Cole Hudson stopped all 26 shots thrown in his direction for his first shutout of the season. Henrik Laursen made 17 stops for the Ice Wolves.

Aberdeen 7 @ Minot 0 - The Aberdeen Wings blew out the Minot Minotauros to stay undefeated on the season as they won 7-0 on Friday night. Natan Vertes had a hat trick and added an assist while Clayton Cosentino had a goal and three helpers. Cade Neilson, Liam Fraser and Spencer Schneider scored for the Wings in the win. Jake Sibell earned his second shutout of the year by making 22 saves. Keenan Rancier and Nick Simo combined for 41 saves for the Minotauros.

Lone Star 2 @ Wichita Falls 1 - The Lone Star Brahmas extended their winning streak to six as the Brahmas outlasted the Warriors 2-1. Dominick Rivelli scored the game’s opening goal to put the Warriors on the board. They would take that lead into the first intermission. Andrew DeCarlo scored just 70 seconds into the middle frame to tie the game at one. Alex Murray scored what would be the eventually game wining goal with the assist going to Blake Benson. Graham Burke stopped 25 of 26 shots to earn the victory in between the pipes while Ryan Ullan took the loss as he made 14 saves.

Northeast 3 @ Maryland 5 - The Maryland Black Bears scored a 5-3 victory of the Northeast Generals as Luke Mountain and Conor Cole each tallied a goal and an assist for Maryland. Jude Kurtas, Hunter McCoy and Brad McNeil also found the back of the net in the victory. Michael Morelli earned his fourth win of the season as he turned aside 36 shots. Liam McCanney, Isaac Novak and Bobby Metz had the goals for the Generals. Joey Stanizzi stopped 30 shots in the loss.

New Jersey 2 @ Johnstown 4 - The Johnstown Tomahawks scored a 4-2 win over the New Jersey Titans as Jay Ahearn led the Tomahawks with a goal and an assist. Andrew Murphy, John Gelatt and Alex Gritz lit the lamp for Johnstown in the win. Sam Evola earned the win in goal as he made 21 saves. Levente Keresztes had a goal and an assist while Matthew Doyle also scored for the Titans. Louden Hogg made 24 saves in a losing effort.

MN Wilderness 2 @ Austin 3 (SO) - Alex Trombley scored the game deciding goal in the shootout as the Austin Bruins edged the Minnesota Wilderness 3-2. Jacob Herter got the scoring started for the Wilderness with his first of the season. Walter Zacher’s third goal of the season tied the game at one while Sutter Muzzatti gave the Bruins the lead just 1:10 later. Ethan Wolthers goal just moments into the third period tied the game and forced overtime before Trombley’s winner in the skills competition. Tyler Shea was the winning net minder as he stopped 23 shots. Kaleb Johnson took the loss in goal as he made 29 saves.
