Maine forward Fox makes NCAA D1 commitment

October 28, 2020

The Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Isaiah Fox has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for Long Island University.

Fox, 20, is off to a great start this season with the Nordiques, which is his second year playing in the NAHL. The 5’11/163 lbs. native of Montreal, Quebec, is currently tied for 3rd in NAHL scoring with nine points (4 goals, 5 assists) for the 1st place Nordiques.

That included a big weekend this past week when Fox was named the East Division’s Star of the Week as he had six points (3 goals, 3 assists) and was a +3 in the three wins. On Friday, Fox had two goals, including the game-winner and two assists in a 6-1 win. On Saturday, he scored the shootout winner in a 2-1 shootout win. On Sunday, he had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win.

“I am proud and honoured to announce my commitment to play division 1 college hockey at Long Island University. Can’t thank my family, friends, teammates, and coaches enough for helping me get to where I am today,” said Fox on Twitter.

“Isaiah is a young man that embodies Nordique hockey… fast, skilled, in your face and unapologetic. Watching his growth over the past year and into the early parts of this season has been great to see, both as a person and a player. He cares for his teammates and will do anything to help the team win. He has embodied this with his play away from the puck, his penalty-kill prowess, and even things as simple as his line changes. Obviously, he takes pride in scoring big goals and putting his teammates in a position for success but whatever the team needs he is willing and able to contribute, and that’s what makes him so special. He continues to improve and we think he will have tremendous success with Long Island University, an up and coming program like ourselves who we believe will do great things in the future with players like Isaiah Fox leading the charge,” said Nordiques head coach Nolan Howe.

In 57 career NAHL regular season games, Fox has posted 46 points, including 20 goals and 26 assists.

He is the fourth member of the 2020-21 Nordiques team who is committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey.
