Maryland defenseman Bergeron makes NCAA commitment
The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Seth Bergeron has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Stevenson University.
Bergeron, 20, is currently competing in his fourth and final NAHL season. The 6’0/185 lbs. native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, currently has two points (1 goal, 1 assist) through the first four games of the 2020-21 regular season for the 1st place Black Bears.
“I’m proud to announce my commitment to play hockey at Stevenson University. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way! #GoMustangs,” said Bergeron on Twitter.
In the Summer of 2019, Bergeron was selected to and play for Team NAHL at the Sirius Ice Hockey World Junior Cup in Sochi, Russia, where he recorded one point in four games.
"Seth has been a very strong addition to our lineup and has provided leadership to our locker room. He is a fierce competitor and plays his role very well. We are happy for Seth that he has earned his commitment and Stevenson will be getting a heck of a defenseman,” said Black Bears head coach Clint Mylymok.
Bergeron began his NAHL career during the 2017-18 season with the Philadelphia Rebels. He would then go onto play three seasons for the Rebels organization. In 158 career NAHL games to date, Bergeron has recorded 40 points (8 goals, 32 assists).
