Jamestown forward Vizbelis makes NCAA commitment
The Jamestown Rebels of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Janis Vizbelis has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Elmira College.
Vizbelis, 21, just completed his first season playing in the NAHL. The 6’1/210 lbs. native of Riga, Lativia, began the 2019-20 season playing for the Shreveport Mudbugs, where he posted five points in 23 games played.
In early December, Vizbelis was traded to the Jamestown Rebels where he made an impact, including scoring a goal in his first game wearing a Rebels jersey.
Overall in 26 games with Jamestown, Vizbelis had eight points. In 49 games overall in 2019-20, Vizbelis had 13 points.
Vizbelis also has experience playing internationally for his home country of Latvia, as he appeared in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Division 1A Championships, scoring one goal in five games for his native land.
