Kansas City forward Kennedy makes NCAA commitment
The Kansas City Scouts (formerly the Topeka Pilots) are pleased to announce that forward Shawn Kennedy has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Elmira College.
Kennedy, 21, just completed his second and final season playing in the NAHL in 2019-20. The 6’1/195 lbs. native of Cornwall, Ontario, recorded 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 52 games played.
“We are excited to see Shawn take his career to the next level with Elmira College. Shawn has a ton of skill and can be a game changer. We enjoyed having him in our program last year as he continued to improve as a player,” said Scouts head coach Simon Watson.
Kennedy made his NAHL debut during the 2018-19 season with the Aberdeen Wings during their run to the Robertson Cup. In 58 games played with Aberdeen, Kennedy put up 34 points and he also appeared in nine playoff games.
He was also selected to and played in the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Central Division team, where he had three points in two games.
In 110 career NAHL games, Kennedy recorded 60 points.
