Wilderness forward Watkins makes NCAA D1 commitment

The Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Tyler Watkins has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for Union College in the ECAC.
 
Watkins, 20, is in his second full season playing in the NAHL for the Wilderness. The 5’9/184 lbs. native of Hermantown, Minnesota, is currently 2nd is team scoring this season with 42 points (17 goals, 25 assists) in 52 games played.
 
Watkins was also selected to and played in the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament where he shined at the event, scoring two goals in two games played.
 
“Tyler has grown tremendously as a player and a leader and I feel that you can see that in his performance. Union is getting not only a great player, but a fantastic leader and we are excited to watch his continued success at the next level,” said Wilderness head coach Jon Vaillancourt.
 
Overall in 109 career NAHL regular season games, Watkins has recorded 59 points.

Prior to playing in the NAHL, Watkins played high school hockey in Minnesota for Hermantown High, leading the Hawks to the Class A State Championship in both 2016 and 2017.
